Ever feel torn between a 'gut feeling' and anxious overthinking?
Here’s how to tell if it’s your intuition guiding you — or anxiety trying to protect you.
Anxiety Feels Like:
Urgent
Spinning, spiralling, repetitive thoughts
Tied to worst-case scenarios
Comes from fear, not clarity
Intuition Feels Like:
Calm knowing
Soft, clear, repetitive nudges
Doesn’t rush you
Rooted in self-trust
3 Questions to Help You Tell the Difference
Is this feeling grounded or frantic? Intuition feels calm — even when it’s asking you to make a bold move.
Am I catastrophising or seeing clearly? Anxiety imagines extreme outcomes. Intuition points gently to truth.
Is my body relaxed or tense? Your body knows the difference. Tune in.
Still Not Sure? Try This:
The Pause Test: Sit quietly. Breathe. Ask: "What would I choose if I fully trusted myself?" Your first, soft answer is usually intuition. The spiral that follows is anxiety.
